Park Forest, IL-(ENEWSPF)- Memorial bunting has been placed atop the south entrance of Park Forest’s Village Hall in memory of former Mayor F. Patrick Kelly. Kelly passed away on May 7.
Born in Joliet on Oct. 30, 1939, Kelly was a graduate of Joliet Catholic Academy in 1957. He graduated from the University of Notre Dame in 1961 and taught at Rich East for more than three decades, from1964 to 1995. His areas of teaching included Art and English. He served a guiding force for thousands of students who passed through Rich East High School. Upon retiring from Rich East, Kelly became a professor in the areas of Art and History at Moraine Valley Community College.

A former suburban Catholic school teacher accused of traveling to meet a child has turned himself in, according to police.
JOLIET, Ill. - A former suburban Catholic school teacher accused of traveling to meet a child has turned himself in, according to police.
Jeremy M. Hylka, 44, was arrested by Joliet police on Tuesday at Silver Oaks Hospital in New Lenox, according to Sgt. Dwayne English.

JOLIET, IL Jeremy Hylka, the 44-year-old fired Diocese of Joliet teacher who has been charged with grooming and traveling to meet a child, was booked into the Joliet Police Department s custody around 6:30 a.m. Tuesday and released after posting bail.
Hylka brought along enough cash, $10,000, to make sure that he will not have to spend one night in the Will County Jail. His bail was set at $100,000 last month, which means he can go free after posting 10 percent.

A former Joliet teacher, who was accused of engaging in inappropriate communication with a minor, has been released on bond following his hospitalization, authorities said.
Jeremy Hylka, 44, was arrested, then released on $10,000 cash bond Tuesday while facing charges of traveling to meet a child and grooming, according to the Joliet Police Department.

JOLIET, IL The Diocese of Joliet waited until 5:30 p.m. Friday to issue a news release announcing that the person responsible for hiring Jeremy Hylka is now on paid suspension from the St. Joseph Catholic School in Lockport. The Diocese of Joliet confirmed today that Jeremy Hylka did not fulfill employment requirements while teaching at St. Joseph Catholic School in Lockport, announced Diocese of Joliet director of communications Mary Massingale.
