The Mountain Home Hurricanes swim team returned to Pocahontas on Saturday and left with a second place finish. Jonesboro ended up winning the meet.
For the Lady Hurricanes, Callie Kohler won the 50-yard freestyle in Junior Olympic time for girls ages nine and 10, and she also won the 25-yard butterfly and the 100-meter individual medley. Annabelle Horn won the 50-yard backstroke in Junior Olympic time for girls ages nine and 10, and she also took the 50-yard breaststroke. Joia Traver won the 100-yard freestyle, and she captured the 100-yard breaststroke for ages 15 to 18. Sierra Trogdon won the 100-yard backstroke, Alya Horn won the 100-yard breaststroke for ages 13 and 14, and Peeka Traver won the 200-meter individual medley.
The Mountain Home High School swim teams wrapped up the season on Saturday by competing in the Class 5A State Meet in Russellville.
The Bomber boys came away with their highest ranking ever, as they finished as state runners-up. The host Cyclones took the title. Noah Daugherty led Mountain Home with new school records by placing third in the 100-yard butterfly and the 100-yard backstroke.
The Lady Bombers ended up third in the team standings. Russellville won the championship, and Little Rock Christian was second. Maddie Lynch won the 50-yard freestyle and was second in the 100-yard butterfly, Joia Traver took second in the 100-yard breaststroke, and the team of Olivia Wham, Traver, Lynch and Sierra Trogdon came away with All-State honors after finishing second in the medley relay.
The Mountain Home High School swim teams were back at a familiar place Tuesday taking part in another meet at Pocahontas.
The Bombers won the boys’ side over six other schools. Fritz Vetter won the 200-yard freestyle, and Noah Daugherty won the backstroke.
Mountain Home’s girls ended up as the runners-up, with the meet being won by Poplar Bluff, Missouri. Joia Traver won the 200-yard individual medley and the 100-yard breaststroke, Sierra Trogdon won the 100-yard butterfly, and Olivia Wham won the 100-yard backstroke.

The Mountain Home High School swim teams were able to win a New Year’s meet at Pocahontas, as both teams had double the points of runner-up Batesville. Pocahontas’ boys and Valley View’s girls ended up third.
Individually for the Lady Bombers, Maddie Lynch won the 200-yard and 100-yard freestyles, and Joia Traver won the backstroke and breaststroke. On the boys’ side, Asa Norwick won the 200-yard individual medley, Noah Daugherty won the breaststroke, and Daugherty and Fritz Vetter ended up with state times in the 100-yard freestyle.
