Carol Rofstad, who was 21 when she was killed, lived in Normal, IL while attending Illinois State University. She was found beaten unconscious about noon December 23, 1975, outside her sorority house at 602 S. Fell Street. The suspected murder weapon, an 18-inch piece of railroad tie, was found nearby. Rofstad wasn t found until roughly 12 hours after the attack. She died Christmas Eve as a result of head injuries.
Two men, one of whom carried a club, were seen between 10 p.m. and 10:15 p.m. on December 22, 1975. Both were white males and between the ages of 18 and 25.
NASHVILLE â A former teacher from Forsyth who is facing new charges involving sexual violence against a minor has been released from a Nashville, Tennessee, jail.
Jonathon Hovey, 49, who previously taught in the Unit 5 school system in McLean County, was released on a $20,000 bond with two pending charges in Nashville. He is accused of rape and sexual battery by an authority figure.
He was released on Tuesday. The information was obtained on Thursday.Â

Former BlackRock high-flyer Jonathan Howie will join global investment manager VGI Partners as its new chief executive.
Jonathan Howie most recently worked as APAC head of index equity for BlackRock in Hong Kong, prior to which he was head of iShares Australia from 2011-2018. He was chosen after a “comprehensive selection process” undertaken with the assistance of a search firm.
“We are delighted to have Jonathan join VGI at such an important time in our company’s growth. Jonathan is well suited to take our company strategy forward, with the skills and experience needed to drive long-term value for all our shareholders,” said executive chairman Robert Luciano, adding that Mr Howie’s appointment would help VGI build out its relationship with investors and its operational and risk management capabilities.
