Altrincham Garrick send best wishes to Coronation Street on birthday Sarah Reilly Operations Director and Joe Meighan, Artistic Director, from Altrincham Garrick have sent their best wishes to all at Coronation Street on their 60th anniversary. The Altrincham theatre has a soft spot for the soap opera because from September 6 – 13 2019, they presented the world amateur premier of Corrie by Jonathan Harvey, himself a Coronation Street writer. The play, directed by Bill Platt, covered the first 50 years of the television hit. It was narrated by Martin Oldfield who also had a small part. Those who were in the audience, will especially recall the rapid scene changes through the viaduct revealing the various Coronation Street properties, the Rovers Return and both the Blackpool tram and the Metrolink tram where major incidents took place.
