A DRUG dealer made more than £100,000 from his illegal enterprise. But this week a judge at Swindon Crown Court ruled Darren Walcott would only have to pay back £4,099. A proceeds of crime hearing on Tuesday heard that prosecutors and Walcott’s lawyers had agreed that the 41-year-old had amassed assets worth £109,279.04 from his drug dealing. Recorder James Watson QC ruled that the “available amount” – the money that could be seized under Proceeds of Crime Act rules – was the £4,099 already in the possession of the police. The judge set a nominal 28 days for the money to be paid. Walcott faces a 10 week period in prison in default if the cash is not transferred.
