Massena Central High School band director recognized by National Band Association

MASSENA â Massena Central High Schoolâs band director has received national recognition for his work with student musicians. Jonathan Hunkins received the National Band Associationâs Citation of Excellence in January, and the accolades started pouring in this week after Principal Alan Oliver learned of the recognition and posted it on social media. Mr. Hunkins said he was talking to Mr. Oliver one morning and the Citation of Excellence was one of the topics of discussion. âI kind of mentioned that I had been given this award from NBA,â he said. After he found out, Mr. Oliver posted his congratulations Sunday morning on the high schoolâs Facebook page.

BOCES helping Norwood-Norfolk Central with survey of concerns, wants, needs of district

Friday, December 18, 2020 - 8:37 am BY MATT LINDSEY North Country This Week NORWOOD Norwood-Norfolk Central School will use the Thoughtexchange program allowing board members to give anonymous feedback, see the feedback from fellow responders, and rate other people s comments. The district held its December board meeting Tuesday and heard from BOCES Superintendent Tom Burns and St. Lawrence-Lewis BOCES Director of Communications and Marketing Rebekah Mott. NNCS Superintendent Jamie Cruikshank said Burns and Mott suggested the program to him as a way to find commonality within the board as they tackle the budget and other issues facing the school. Burns said that all schools in the region used Thoughexchange to gather information from parents, staff and students as officials planned the reopening process this fall.
