Letter to the Editor: Lowering standards until 2032

Letter to the Editor: Lowering standards until 2032 The Fairfield-Suisun School District has decided to ease graduation requirements for the Classes of 2021 and 2022 due to the pandemic and loss of learning. Trustee Ana Petero was right in saying this was passing the buck to the next level. I guess Superintendent Kris Corey, board President Jonathan Richardson and the rest of the board have no qualms in lowering the requirements until 2032, since that class started kindergarten at the start of the pandemic. Fairfield-Suisun School District teachers have been doing an impossible job in these times and this change feels like a slap in the face to them.

Letter to the Editor: School board president needs to answer questions

Letter to the Editor: School board president needs to answer questions After watching the March 25 Fairfield-Suisun School District board meeting, Ana Petero deserves a hard-earned drink. She’s asking the board legitimate questions about spending practices and Board President Jonathan Richardson scolded her over her clarifying questions. As a parent and taxpayer, it’s frustrating that she’s asking the questions that need to be answered while the rest of the board seems happy to waste money. At least she cares about where the money is going. President Richardson should answer her questions and be respectful when he does answer her. Voters will remember this when it’s time for elections.

Posted: March 16, 2021 Kelowna International Airport Air service to Vancouver to continue Access to Kelowna for medical care and other necessities created by government cutbacks and downloading is going to be more difficult for East Kootenay residents the next half a year. Pacific Coastal Airlines is temporarily suspending service between Kelowna International Airport (YLW) and Canadian Rockies International Airport (YXC) in Cranbrook, the company announced last week. The last scheduled flight to operate this route will be on Thursday, April 29. “Since we resumed our scheduled flight service last June we have not seen sizeable customer demand return for this route,” stated Johnathan Richardson, Vice President of Commercial Services with Pacific Coastal. “We will continue to assess future demand and anticipate to resume our non-stop flight service between Kelowna and Cranbrook this coming fall.”
