Press Release: Measure J Transforms Numerous School Sites Fairfield, CA – April 30, 2021 – Fairfield-Suisun Unified School District (FSUSD) is nearing the completion of the Measure J Bond program. Staff recently provided an update to the Governing Board on the past, present and future projects tied to Measure J funding. After viewing the many photos that highlighted the transformative improvements that have occurred over the past five years, Board President Jonathan Richardson remarked, “The presentation knocked me out of my chair… it excites me about what we are doing to address the deficiencies… breathing new life into education.” Board Member Craig Wilson commented that he hopes the community sees the “dramatic upgrades in a relatively short time period.” Mr. Wilson speculated that completing so much in a five-year span is unprecedented.

Letter to the Editor: Lowering standards until 2032 The Fairfield-Suisun School District has decided to ease graduation requirements for the Classes of 2021 and 2022 due to the pandemic and loss of learning. Trustee Ana Petero was right in saying this was passing the buck to the next level. I guess Superintendent Kris Corey, board President Jonathan Richardson and the rest of the board have no qualms in lowering the requirements until 2032, since that class started kindergarten at the start of the pandemic. Fairfield-Suisun School District teachers have been doing an impossible job in these times and this change feels like a slap in the face to them.
