GROSSE POINTE FARMS/WOODS Every Christmas, the Grosse Pointe North and South high school communities make sure others in need have a happier holiday season through the Adopt-A-Family program.
As a tradition, the schools’ student associations collect monetary donations from students and staff within their school buildings in an effort to spread holiday cheer. With the funds, the associations “adopt” families at North and South that otherwise would go without at Christmastime.
Once all the donations are received, students purchase all kinds of gift items clothes, art supplies, DVD players, grocery store gifts and more and then deliver them to the families prior to Christmas morning, either at their homes or at the schools they attend.
