The fishing vessel arrived at Port Taranaki just after 9am on Tuesday. Port Taranaki chief executive Guy Roper said it was expected the Playa Zahara would be in port for no more than four hours. The vessel left about 2.25pm, about one hour later than expectations.

The Playa Zahara left Port Taranaki about 2.25pm on Tuesday, approximately five hours after it arrived. If the results show there is no evidence of Covid-19 onboard, then the vessel will be granted permission to return to the port for a crew change, Taranaki’s medical officer of health, Dr Jonathan Jarman said.
