HSBC urges greater ASEAN commitment to climate-change mitigation measures

SOUTHEAST ASIA needs to commit to major investments designed to address climate change, including projects in infrastructure, power, and food security, HSBC Group said.
Speaking at the Path to Net Zero webinar Thursday, Joseph Incalcaterra, chief ASEAN economist at HSBC Bank, said policymakers, governments and the private sector should ensure their projects are more responsive to climate change since the region is vulnerable to extreme weather disturbances.
Mr. Incalcaterra added that these early investments can also mitigate climate change’s impact on the region’s economy, noting that taking the same measures later will be more expensive.

COLUMBUS, Ohio (AP) In Columbus, Ohio, it took five hours. In North Carolina, it requires a court order. In New York City, police can wait up to a month sometimes longer.
As the U.S. debates the future of policing, the policies that govern the release of body camera footage still vary widely across the nation, and pressure is building on law enforcement agencies to act swiftly, even if it means releasing videos before investigations have barely begun.
“It’s all over the board. A lot of it has to do with state laws. A lot of it has to do with previous litigation,” said Geoffrey Alpert, a criminal justice professor at the University of South Carolina.

maker, Grant Dixon, producer of the documentary,

Successive presentations will occur at
Dunedin in August, Auckland in September and will conclude
in the Grand Hall at Parliament in October.

will be opened by Julia Rucklidge, Professor of Psychology
