Turf Practice Field to be Named Erstad Field

(UJ) – Representatives from University of Jamestown and Jamestown Public Schools announced that Darin Erstad donated to the campaign to renovate the Track and Football Field at the Charlotte and Gordon Hansen Stadium (formerly Taylor Stadium) and to provide a turf practice field at Jamestown High School. In recognition of his donation and support of the Jamestown community, the turf practice field located on the Jamestown High School campus will be named Erstad Field. The field will support practices and activities for both Jamestown Public Schools and UJ as part of the $11.7 million renovation project. “The Erstad Family is honored to be part of this project and give kids an opportunity in all sports to maximize their development,” said Erstad. “The community of Jamestown has given our entire family such wonderful memories, and we look forward to seeing generations of kids create their own memories while pursuing their dreams.”

It is a large part of the reason why the job he held for 13 years consumed and defined him. “The drug dealers have a better outreach than any place I’ve ever seen … They’re on call 24-7,” he said this week in a phone interview. “You can call a drug dealer at 2 o’clock in the morning, not have money, but they’ll know when you get your check and they’ll bring the drugs to your house. Call a mental health clinic or a drug and alcohol place between 9 and 4 and they’ll give you an appointment a month out.”

Clinics Provide Plenty Of Vaccine Options | News, Sports, Jobs

etichy@post-journal.com Several COVID-19 vaccination clinics are taking place this week in Chautauqua County, providing several opportunities for those looking to get the previously coveted shots. The abundance of doses come as 43,083 county residents have completed their vaccination series, according to the state’s online tracker, along with 51,997 who have received at least one shot. There are clinics scheduled every day this week, including today at the Jamestown Community College campus in Jamestown. The clinic will utilize the Moderna vaccine, and will run from 6:30-11:30 a.m. On Wednesday, Brooks Memorial Hospital, 529 Central Ave., Dunkirk, will host the first of two clinics this week. Those who sign up will receive the Pfizer vaccine. Another clinic, also using Pfizer, will be held Wednesday at Southwestern High School from 3:30-6:30 p.m. The shots are available for all faculty, staff, parents, students over 16, and other community members.
