Faculty at Bronson Jr /Sr High School presented a request for interventionists

By Rosalie Currier Sturgis Journal The math and English language arts faculty at Bronson Jr./Sr. High School presented a request for interventionists Monday to the board of education. Faculty members presented data to substantiate the need, citing experiences that demonstrate the effectiveness of intervention providing extra help for students who are falling behind. They requested one for each department at the school. The high school departments meet weekly, said Wes McCrea, jr./sr. high principal. The process that led to the request began in January, when faculty members started to review data from testing, McCrea said. Pam Losinski, math teacher, said in the past there was an interventionist in both departments, but as staff members retired or left the school, they were not replaced. Now, they are stretched thin.

Events Trio Sobrenna Fourth Year Recital When 3:30pm - 5:00pm Trio Sobrenna – violinist Sophia Park, cellist Brent Davis, and pianist Anna Wang – will be celebrating eight semesters of collaboration in the Music Department’s first-ever fourth year chamber ensemble recital. The recital will feature Claude Debussy’s Piano Trio in G Major, Paul Schoenfield’s Café Music, and Franz Schubert’s Piano Trio No. 2 in E-Flat Major. Since forming in 2017, Trio Sobrenna has worked together in the Chamber Music Seminar program at UVA for a full eight semesters, receiving coachings from Professors David Sariti, Adam Carter, Daniel Sender, and Ayn Balija. Within the program, the trio has studied a variety of pieces, including works by Felix Mendelssohn, Johannes Brahms, Anton Arensky, and Antonín Dvořák. The ensemble has also performed in mastercla

Lyon, Sr. achieved a level of success in his career, and his life, to which many can only aspire. Born and raised in Raceland, with his two brothers, Lyon graduated (and was salutatorian) from Raceland High School in 1949. Lyon went on to earn his law degree from the University of Kentucky in 1955 and returned home to begin his law firm in Raceland. After moving his law firm to Greenup, he married Jean, the love of his life, and began a family of his own.
