A THREE-DAY auction brought in more than £200,000 following the sale of lots of exciting pieces. Mitchells Antiques & Fine Art Sale, which took place last week, had a successful couple of days selling unusual items and artworks. Despite being a Cockermouth based auction house, buyers from across the world spent their money on the sale which brought in a grand total of £228,000. It got off to an interesting start with a late 19th century Chinese cylindrical vase featuring a design of birds perched upon tree branches. The vase was estimated at a respectable £100-£150 but actually sold for £1000. The 19th century cylindrical vase was followed by the highest selling lot of the entire sale - two 19th century Chinese celadon vases.
