The Historic Triangle was graced with an inch of snow overnight, an uncommon occurrence for the area.
By this afternoon, the snow showers will end and residents will be left with a mix of sun and clouds for the remainder of the day, according to Mike Montefusco, meteorologist at the NWS Wakefield office.
Here’s how the frosty weather is affecting operations in the Historic Triangle.
James City County
County offices and courts are currently open and unaffected by the snow.
All county parks are open. Convenience centers and garbage transfer stations are open and there is no change to curbside recycling schedule.

Those looking to get some peace of mind during the coronavirus pandemic can practice meditation and other relaxation techniques.
But what if you don’t know how to meditate or are on a budget?
The James City County Parks & Recreation department might be able to help on both accounts for free.
The department is hosting a free meditation class in February.
The event is open to the public ages 16 and older. You can register here.
“Whether you’re a seasoned practitioner or brand new, all are welcome to this open community meditation practice,” according to the JCC Parks & Recreation’s class catalog. “We’ll explore different styles of meditation techniques as well as tools that aid the meditative process.”

James City County Parks and Recreation is celebrating their 40th anniversary with weekly contests for the rest of the year.
“You’re the firm foundation of our success without your support and participation, we couldn’t do what we do,” according to the department’s Facebook post.
As part of the “On Location in James City County” contest, residents guess the location of the JCC Parks and Recreation’s commemorative brick by commenting on the department’s Facebook post.
Kids and teens looking to try something new are in luck.
The James City County Parks and Recreation department is offering pottery class for kids 10 to 15 years old who want to “get creative and messy with clay.”
The sessions and cost $55 which includes a materials fee for the instructor. You can register here.
“Participants will hand-build and explore the potter’s wheel, with no experience necessary,” according to the JCC Parks and Recreation’s Facebook post.
The Kidz Clay classes are at the James City County Recreation Center, 5301 Longhill Road on Thursdays starting Feb. 18 to March 18 from 4:15 p.m. to 5:15 p.m.
