CMPD: 29-Year-Old Man Arrested, Charged In South Charlotte Homicide Case

Charlotte-Mecklenburg detectives have charged a 29-year-old man with murder in a south Charlotte homicide case that happened Friday afternoon after the victim died from apparent trauma.
Police say they identified James Tyler Singleton as a suspect in the Divante Brown murder case following continued investigation. Arrest warrants were issued and on Monday he was taken into custody by CMPD’s Violent Criminal Apprehension Team.
Following an interview by detectives, Singleton was transferred to the custody of the Mecklenburg County Sheriff’s Office and charged with Murder and Possession of a Firearm by a Convicted Felon, according to CMPD.

CMPD detectives began conducting two separate homicide investigations Friday night.
Police responded to LaSalle Street in the area of Newland Road in north Charlotte, where someone was pronounced dead, CMPD tweeted around 4:20 p.m.
CMPD said it started with a shootout between two vehicles on LaSalle Street.
