Virginia Judge Questions Faith Groups in Fight Over Transgender Inclusive Student Policies
Virginia is no stranger to helping the nation reach legal decisions impacting transgender students and Wednesday s hearing in a rural court could be the start of another nationally-relevant fight.
LYNCHBURG, Va. (CN) A Virginia judge had tough questions for conservative groups Wednesday afternoon in a dispute hoping to block the state from implementing transgender-inclusive policies in the upcoming school year.
The Virginia Department of Education claimed the policies “address common issues regarding transgender students in accordance with evidence-based best practices and include information, guidance, procedures” and their promulgation was required under legislation passed last year. But several parents and Richmond-based conservative groups, the Founding Freedoms Law Center, the Christian Action Network and the Family Foundation of Virginia, claim the policies infringe on teachers
A new gin from ISCO

They took their Ornamental Gin and aged it in charred oak barrels for three months. The oak imparts flavors of sweet vanilla and caramel to the gin. The result is complex layers that float in your mouth, according to the tasting notes.
They named it Patina. It can be sipped on the rocks or enjoyed with a splash of lime and soda for a refreshing summer cooler.
Patina is also being served in two cocktails at the distillery. Chimera includes Patina, Bergamot tea, vanilla, lemon, and orange. The Astra features Patina paired with sherry and sweet vermouth.
Dr Samuel Grubb
Dr Samuel Grubb, who passed away recently, has been conductor of the Madras Musical Association, member of the GATT Quintet that performed at the Sydney Olympics and sung for Ilaiyaraaja. But what he will be undoubtedly remembered for is his deep voice, one that American gospel queen, Mahalia Jackson, called ‘the Bottomless Bass’
I first met Dr Samuel Grubb in 1964 when he was chosen as the bass soloist for a cantata called ‘Redemption’ which my father had composed with the legendary Richard Singh. I was still a boy singing alto in the YMCA Augumented choir then and Grubb was at least a decade older. The concert was a grand success and the stand-out performer was Grubb.
