Snobbery alive and well in modern Ireland - First Dates star Jamie Harrington

Share this article A young Dubliner who made global headlines after talking a suicidal man off the Ha penny Bridge has warned that snobbery is alive and well in modern Ireland. Ballymun local Jamie Harrington was just 15-years-old when he approached the man and talked him down. He eventually convinced him to get into an ambulance and the man later named his son Jamie. Now 21-years-old, Mr Harrington last night appeared on the ‘First Dates’ show on RTÉ television. During the programme, he shocked his date Rosa from County Louth with stories of the discrimination he has received - simply because he comes from Ballymun.

Kansas Nurse Practitioners Want An End to Doctor Contracts, But Hit Statehouse Roadblocks Again

. Based on evidence about the quality of care by advanced practice nurses, more and more states have ditched the requirement that nurse practitioners work only under contracts with doctors. But physicians say the arrangements protect patients. A proposal to let nurse practitioners do their jobs without contracts that can require them to pay thousands of dollars a year to doctors got stymied again in the Kansas Legislature this session. The bill died in the House this month without a vote. A technical maneuver in the Senate keeps the legislation alive, but it remains in committee with no vote scheduled. To free advanced practice nurses to open more clinics, half of states no longer make them ink contracts with doctors. The Department of Veterans Affairs made a similar switch in 2016.
