LANSING Golden Harvest, a beloved breakfast eatery and mainstay in Lansing s Old Town for over 15 years, is in foreclosure and community members are stepping up to try and save it.
The restaurant closed last March, less than four months after a crumbling roof, ancient pipes, faulty ventilation system and aging kitchen equipment at the 70-year-old building led to frequent and unexpected closures.
A fundraiser established by the restaurant staff raised just over $3,100, owner Vanessa Vicknair said. The roof was patched but needs to be completely replaced, she said.
When the statewide dine-in ban at restaurants was lifted last summer, Golden Harvest didn t reopen. Last August, Vicknair said she intended to reopen when COVID-19 capacity restrictions were eased.
