To the editor: My time as the community development director for North Elba and Lake Placid coincided with Jamie Rogers’ terms as a village trustee and as mayor. Jamie had one agenda, and it was whatever preserved or improved the very special community that is Lake Placid. Additionally, Lake Placid and North Elba were at the core of his volunteer work before he joined the village board and continues to be since he left office. Some of the accomplishments during his time in office are easy to point to, like Mid’s Park (and if you can, please remember what Mid’s Park was a steep slope with spotty tufts of grass and a rotting wooden deck and compare it to the beautiful Main Street green space now being enjoyed by so many, regardless of physical disability) and the public transportation trolley system (which moves not only visitors, but workers and people who need to get to the grocery store).
