IN PICTURES: Northamptonshire s wacky weather in 2020 with storms, floods, record highs and a TORNADO

Never mind the coronavirus, 2020 has been the year of crazy weather in Northamptonshire. Wind, rain, record high temperatures, a tornado, more rain leading to floods and finally more wind and more rain. That s been the story of the last 12 months across our county and weather watchers admitted they’d never seen anything like it. Jamie Dunlop, of @NNweather, said: “It was a stormy February with two named storms causing damage and disruption in the space of a week yet even stronger winds hit the county on July 25 when a tornado tore through the county with gusts estimated between 73mph and 92mph.

Submitting. Jamie Dunlop, from @NNweather, admitted: I think we’ll see some snow at some point through the next week or so, but pinning down the detail is tricky. There is a band of snow/sleet showers is moving moving south through the county this morning and 3°C will be feeling more like a bitterly cold -2°C in the northerly breeze. Most modles agree there’s a reasonable chance of a proper cold spell developing over the next week or two. Cold air with areas of precipitation popping up without much notice could lead to a surprise snowfall. Snow is falling at East MIdlands Airport and on the M1 and M69 in Leicestershire this morning
