Several guns and thousands of dollars worth of fentanyl were seized Wednesday in a police raid of a home on East Park Drive in Woodstock.
The Waterloo Region police tactical team and a canine unit were also part of an afternoon search of a home in the usually quiet city neighbourhood, prompting officers to close nearby streets and warn area schools.

Four prohibited weapons, a handgun and two shotguns, five rifles and 11 replica firearms were among the items seized by the Woodstock department’s drug and intelligence unit from the home Wednesday. Police also reported taking more than 1,000 rounds of ammunition and $2,500 of what police suspect to be fentanyl.

Camp Fire survivor who lost his home has been homeless for two and a half years and has been living at Comanche Creek.
Jamie Jamison, who lost his home in the Camp Fire, has been living in his tent in Comanche Creek ever since losing everything in the Camp Fire.

The Dec. 1 Coronado City Council meeting began with a ceremonial recognition of the Cityâs 130th anniversary of incorporation on December 11, 1890. The milestone anniversary was commemorated with a five minute historic video and a city-wide exercise challenge that encouraged people to get outside and exercise during the pandemic. After the video presentation, Jamie Monroe of Easy Day Sports reported that 2,677 people had signed up for the 130 Virtual Challenge. The goal for individuals is to complete 130 miles running, walking, swimming, or biking between July 4 - Dec. 11.Â
The agenda item that drew the most public attention, with 16 written comments attached to the agenda and one phone-in during the meeting, was the Ocean Boulevard Street Improvement Project. The public comments recorded were 11-5 against improvements; however, many of the letters in both opposition and support were nuanced in support of different variations of improvement.
