Self-driving robot delivery startup raises $4.2 million to expand in Ann Arbor

ANN ARBOR, MI Ann Arbor-based delivery robot developer Refraction AI has raised $4.2 million in seed funding.
The company in 2019 created the REV-1 robot, a lightweight, self-driving robot that delivers food and groceries to Ann Arbor residents. Customers can order deliveries from Cafe Zola, Miss Kim, The Jagged Fork, Ray’s Red Hots, Tios Mexican Cafe and Tequila Bar, Wolverine Sushi Bar, Zingerman’s Delicatessen and the Produce Station.
Refraction AI’s robot fleet grew from eight in summer 2020 to a current fleet of 25, spokeswoman Kira Cooper said in an email. And the company is expanding to Texas in April, said Luke Schneider, chief executive officer.
