What it means to be impeached
Impeachment is not a recent practice â it has existed for hundreds of years, originating as early as the 1300s in England to remove unpopular Parliament members. The framers of the Constitution included impeachment in Article II of the Constitution, however, the U.S. has used this process much more sparingly than England, only ever impeaching three presidents.
