When it was revealed that The CW had started developing a
Wonder Girl TV series, the news definitely came as a surprise to fans. After all, the character hadn t even made her comic book debut at that point, and actually showed up for the first time last month as part of DC Comics
The CW passes on DC series Wonder Girl, but gives pilot order to Naomi
Wonder Girl series, while granting a pilot order to another potential DC property in
Naomi.
Wonder Girl was announced as in development this past November and would have revolved around the character of Yara Flor, the daughter of an Amazonian Warrior and a Brazilian River God, who uses her powers to fight the evil forces that would seek to destroy the world.

Queen of the South) announced on Twitter that the network would not be moving forward with the show, which would have marked the first DC TV series to have been led by a Latina superhero character.
The
Wonder Girl TV series that has been in the works at The CW won’t be moving forward. Dailyn Rodriguez, who was heading up the project, announced on Twitter that The CW has passed on the show.
“So some sad news. For all of those asking, Wonder Girl is not getting picked up at the CW. I was very proud of the script I wrote. Wish I could’ve shared the world I created, but unfortunately it wasn’t meant to be. Thanks for everyone’s enthusiasm. It meant a lot to me.”
The show would have followed Yara Flor, “a Latina Dreamer who was born of an Amazonian Warrior and a Brazilian River God, learns that she is Wonder Girl, and with her newfound power must fight the evil forces that would seek to destroy the world.”

The CW’s “Wonder Girl,” based on the DC character created by Joëlle Jones, is no longer moving forward at the network. Greg Berlanti had been on board to executive produce.
“I was very proud of the script I wrote,” tweeted writer and executive producer Dailyn Rodriguez on Friday. “Wish I could’ve shared the world I created, but unfortunately it wasn’t meant to be. Thanks for everyone’s enthusiasm. It meant a lot to me.”

The prospective one-hour drama centered on Latina Dreamer Yara Flor, born to an Amazonian warrior and Brazilian river god. Rodriguez previously served as showrunner on several seasons of USA Network’s “Queen of the South” and has worked on “The Night Shift,” “The Glade,” “Lie to Me,” “Ugly Betty,” and other series. Alongside Berlanti, Sarah Schechter and David Madden had been set to produce for Berlanti P
