ALBION — On a day when the Albion Rotary Club announced a back-to-normal meeting schedule, it chose to honor someone in the community who does so much more than normal. Albion Rotarian Joy LeCount introduced Jason Brown, 43, as the club’s Citizen of the Year during Thursday’s luncheon gathering at the Albion Pizza Depot. “I was surprised,” Brown said. “I was shocked. It feels awesome.” LeCount had invited Brown to speak at Thursday’s meeting under the guise of a program involving Brown’s work with the Indiana Deaf Camp. Brown and LeCount did do that program — and it was a big reason LeCount said Brown was deserving of the honor.

Wausau School Board Considers Disclaimer, Other Facilities Rental Rules Adjustments By Mike Leischner Jun 28, 2021 | 8:43 PM WAUSAU, WI (WSAU) The Wausau School Board Education and Operations Committee has instructed the administration to further examine proposed rules changes for the district’s policy regarding facilities rentals for outside groups, including a requirement for a disclaimer on all promotional materials that would make it clear the district is only providing a gathering place and not endorsing what’s presented. “We will rent our facilities because we are a limited public forum,” said Superintendent Dr. Keith Hilts. “But that doesn’t mean we agree with an organization’s views.”

The group speaking at Saturday s event calls itself Every Black Life Matters and believes there is only one race and that every life matters  and sells anti-abortion materials online, according to its website. Kevin McGary and Neil Mammen, who lead the EveryBLM organization, traveled from California to speak Thursday at the Marathon County Board meeting.
