A FRESHWATER man caught supplying cannabis, with a drug dealings list on his phone which included his own father, has been spared jail. Lee Thurman, 32, of Colwell Chine Road, appeared before the Isle of Wight Crown Court last Tuesday (December 15). He admitted offering to supply cannabis and possession of cannabis. The court heard from prosecutor, Roderick Blain, how on March 15, 2018, Thurman had been involved in an incident. When police arrested him, they found cannabis to the value of £10 in his possession. He said an examination of his mobile phone revealed a number of drug dealing texts over a period of around ten weeks, offering various values of drugs the highest at £90.
A MAN given a suspended jail sentence for taking a kitchen knife to his pregnant former girlfriend’s stomach has ended up behind bars after breaching his restraining order. Recorder Jane Rowley sent Modud Miah, 20, to a young offenders institute for 18 months six months for breaching the order and 12 months for breaching his suspended sentence. At the sentencing, prosecutor Gary Venturi said the victim was 29 weeks pregnant with Miah’s child when the incident happened on September 2. The relationship between the pair had broken down, but the victim agreed to meet Miah in to talk. However, Miah approached her with a kitchen knife, silently pointing it towards her.
Isle of Wight Combined Courts Today (Friday), Tomlinson has admitted five counts of paying for the sexual services of a girl under 13, two counts of causing or inciting the sexual exploitation of a child under 13, two counts of intentionally encouraging/assisting the commission of an either way offence and three counts of making indecent photographs/pseudo photographs of a child. Recorder Jane Rowley said: A significant term of imprisonment may be justified. The matter will now be adjourned for sentencing on March 5. Defending, Elisabeth Bussey-Jones has asked for pre-sentence reports. He is required to add his name to the sex offender s register.
