COHASSET, Calif. - The Butte County Fire Safe Council is working hard to improve evacuation route and fire safety in rural communities in their region. Friday and Saturday the Council worked up in Cohasset, continuing to improve the evacuation route of Cohasset Road. They are working to get 10 feet clear on either side of the road.
The work during the weekend was at the old Cohasset school grounds, which can be used as a safe refuge area during wildfire emergencies. The Butte County Fire Safe Council has received funding to pay for the wildfire safety improvements on the Cohasset Ridge, allowing them to treat 200 acres if property owners allow access.
