Help your neighbors learn to read
I’m writing to invite my fellow Delawareans to help Literacy Delaware fulfill its mission of empowering adult learners to realize their potential as confident, self-sufficient and productive employees, family members and contributors to their communities. Literacy Delaware trains volunteer tutors to work with learners at mutually convenient times.
I was interested in teaching ESL and found Literacy Delaware through a course I took through the Osher Lifelong Learning Institute. After completing my training, I was matched with Paco, a musician from Senegal.

The CRT Amnesty project is providing free technology recycling to sixteen communities across the state. The collections are specific for Cathode Ray Tube (CRT) monitors and televisions but other technology items are being accepted also. The goal of the event is to safely dispose of and responsibly recycle as many CRT’s as possible using R2 Certified Recyclers, Sadoff Electronics Recycling & Data Destruction and American Recycling. R2 Certified Recyclers follow the highest industry standards for data security and environmental health and safety so feel confident that technology items disposed of will be properly handled.
Who is Alvin Campbell Jr?
Alvin Campbell Jr is the brother of Boston City council member Andrea Campbell. He was raised in a Black Christian family in Roxbury, often called the heart of Boston’s Black community, and the South End, along with Andrea and her twin brother Andre. The area, according to Paw, was a racially diverse but economically stratified neighborhood where Victorian rowhouses stand alongside public-housing projects.
Their mother was killed in a car accident while traveling to visit Campbell Jr’s father in prison when Andrea was just eight months old. Their father was serving eight years for firearms charges. Campbell Jr lived with his twin siblings and they spent their early childhood with a collection of foster parents and extended family, including a grandmother who struggled with alcoholism and an aunt and uncle who became parental figures.
