Janis Hanwell will be there for you!

Gregory Clark April 29, 2021 Janis Hanwell has my vote for re-election to the Cape Henlopen school board. I have known Mrs. Hanwell since I was a student in middle school and she was my assistant principal. My school went through a lot one year when she was there with the death of two teachers and a student, and a serious crisis where we had to evacuate the building, yet somehow she made us feel safe and cared about. When I was in trouble, I knew I could rely on her to help me if I needed support. That didn’t mean she was easy on us or a pushover.

Hanwell should continue to serve on Cape board

Janet Andrelczyk April 16, 2021 I am writing to express my support for Janis Hanwell’s re-election to the Cape Henlopen School District Board of Education. Janis has ably served the Cape community for many years as an educator, school administrator and assistant superintendent, and continues to have its best interests at heart as a member of the school board.  I had the privilege of working with Janis for several years and know firsthand the unique skills she brings to the table; she has the knowledge, experience, enthusiasm, compassion and work ethic to continue to make Cape Henlopen the best district in the state.

Hanwell has best interest of Cape District at heart

Dr. Nancy Feichtl It takes experience to lead Cape Henlopen School District out of the pandemic morass.  There are two large talents that one must have to serve in a leadership role in a school district in these troubled times, i.e. the ability to see the Big Picture of school operations and the ability to have the humanitarian bent to see the human stressors on every level, with the courage to help remedy those. Janis Hanwell has both. She served as a teacher, a coordinator of special education, a principal as well as the assistant superintendent of the Cape District.

First elected in 2016, Hanwell said she is seeking re-election because she believes a free public education can and should level the playing field for all children to become successful, productive adults. “I want to use my skills and experience to continue to support Cape in these efforts, and to make sure parents and staff have a voice in decisions that are made in the interests of their students and children,” she said.
