(ABC 6 News) - In Albert lea, there is some help for businesses too.
The city council is waving the upcoming permit and license fees for establishments affected by the pandemic.
The waiver applies to businesses that paid for licenses or permits during the pandemic but were not allowed to open. The list includes bars and restaurants, hotels, movie theaters, massage providers, sexual-oriented businesses, and permits for arcades and pool tables.
I hope people take it as the city does want you to reopen, that you know that the city does care, you know what is fair and works within its powers, says Ian Rigg, Albert Lea City Manager.

I wouldn’t exactly say Ben Forster appearing as himself in this musical comedy is a career highlight (he is, after all, someone who has played the title role in the West End production of
The Phantom of the Opera) but it’s evident that he doesn’t take himself too seriously in
A Killer Party. The narrative arc is as predictable as night follows day. In short, this is a murder mystery story in which various leads are followed up, some more plausible than others, before eventually there’s a breakthrough of some kind in the investigation which results in the case being solved.
Hollywood and Broadway stars are teaming up on Monday, May 17th to celebrate the resilience of the young people experiencing homelessness at Covenant House, the international charity providing housing, food and healthcare to children and youth facing homelessness.
In a special virtual concert sponsored by Kia, titled Night of Covenant House Stars, powerhouse performers from Hollywood to Broadway are uniting to sing and share a message of inspiration.
The concert will be co-hosted by six-time Tony Award winner Audra McDonald and CBS 60 Minutes Correspondent John Dickerson, both members of the Covenant House Board of Directors. The theme of the gala is, Stand Up, Stand Strong, and will recognize and celebrate the resilience of young people experiencing homelessness and the heroism of frontline staff working 24/7 to keep them safe during the ongoing COVID-19 crisis.
