(ABC 6 News) - In Albert lea, there is some help for businesses too.
The city council is waving the upcoming permit and license fees for establishments affected by the pandemic.
The waiver applies to businesses that paid for licenses or permits during the pandemic but were not allowed to open. The list includes bars and restaurants, hotels, movie theaters, massage providers, sexual-oriented businesses, and permits for arcades and pool tables.
I hope people take it as the city does want you to reopen, that you know that the city does care, you know what is fair and works within its powers, says Ian Rigg, Albert Lea City Manager.

(ABC 6 News) - Following Minnesota Governor Tim Walz s announcement Wednesday, some restaurants and businesses are saying enough is enough by defying the Governor and are choosing to open their doors.
In Albert Lea, there s a coffee and sandwich shop called the Interchange, owner Lisa Hanson says she s opening her dining room for business. This statement that we re making is all about an American way. It s all about our rights, our freedoms, and our liberties as American Citizens, Hanson said.
The line at the Interchange was long Wednesday afternoon, baristas were making coffee and sandwiches left and right and the community showed up to stand with Hanson.
