Man accused of ramming into stationary car and burglary

Premium Content Subscriber only A man accused of ramming another vehicle which was stuck behind another vehicle, and burglary, was granted bail last month. Vincent Joseph Smith, 27, made a bail application in Rockhampton Magistrates Court on April 19. Police prosecutor Clancy Fox alleged Smith made some admissions of his offending to police over the phone. He claimed police felt Smith was at risk of committing more offences if released on bail. Mr Fox said it would be alleged that after the initial incident at 1.30am, police were not able to locate the defendant and a few hours later, received information he was heading back to the victim’s address which caused police concern.

Wayne Leslie Walters had marijuana in his system when he was intercepted driving along Knight Street, Park Avenue, at 6pm on February 18. Walters pleaded guilty to the charge in Rockhampton Magistrates Court on April 28. He addressed Magistrate Jason Schubert and said he had a joint one night because he had back spasms and it helped him relax at night to sleep. “I don’t do it every night,” he said. “I have seen a doctor since and am now on an opioid to help me sleep.

Drug user told cops she had knife to stab someone in attack

Premium Content Subscriber only A visibly restless and stressed Jodi Lee Beardsmore faced a Central Queensland court after police found drugs in her car and house, as well as a knife. The 39 year old was pulled over on Bottlebrush Drive at Lammermoor about 8.35pm on March 26. Police found a Nintendo DS case with two plastic bags of meth in the car and a glass pipe, police prosecutor Sergeant Shaun Janes told the Yeppoon Magistrates Court on April 15. She said case was hers, from her house; the glass pipe was hers, used to smoke methamphetamine, Sergeant Janes said. Police also found a knife in Beardsmore s car.

Man sold tainted PlayStation games to Yeppoon store

Premium Content Subscriber only A man who sold PlayStation games that were tainted property to a Yeppoon store has faced court. Ryan Steven Earl, 22, pleaded guilty in Yeppoon Magistrates Court last Thursday to dishonestly obtaining a sum of money from EB Games Yeppoon. The court heard that Earl went to the store on October 12 last year with 16 games which he exchanged for $221.76. It was told that Earl had been approached by a man who asked him to exchange the games and in return Earl would receive a packet of cigarettes. Earl thought it was dodgy but as the solicitor representing him said, Earl had been diagnosed with a mental health condition which made him vulnerable to people such as this who took advantage of him on this occasion.
