Carlsbad police investigating bomb threat at Omni La Costa Resort

CARLSBAD  Police were investigating a bomb threat Monday at the Omni La Costa Resort & Spa prompted by a suspicious call to the hotel. The investigation into the threat began around 2:20 p.m. at the hotel and resort on Costa Del Mar Road east of El Camino Real, according to Carlsbad police Lt. Jason Jackowski. “Using an abundance of caution and the prescribed protocol, we are investigating a bomb threat based on a suspicious phone call,” Police Department officials tweeted about 4:15 p.m. Helping us with this incident due to the size of the resort are @CHP Oceanside K9 Unit, @USMC K9 Unit, @CBDfirefighters@SDSheriff and resort security and management. Tuesday, he appeared during a virtual hearing dressed in an orange jumpsuit and a mask. The judge ordered reporters not to show the teen s face because he is a juvenile. CARLSBAD (KUSI) – The DNA of a 17-year-old boy accused of fatally stabbing a 68-year-old woman last month on a Carlsbad hiking trail was found on the victim’s shorts, according to testimony heard Tuesday in San Diego juvenile court. The teen, whose name was withheld because he is a minor, is charged with murder in the death of Lisa Thorborg, whose body was found on Hosp Grove trail on the morning of Nov. 23. Tuesday’s hearing revealed some of the preliminary facts that led Carlsbad police to arrest the boy, who still faces the possibility of being charged as an adult.
