Musicals return to Boyertown High with production of Mamma Mia!

Theatre performances returned to Boyertown High School’s stage for the production of “Mamma Mia!” June 29 to July 8. The cast featured 33 students in grades 9-12 and two alumni who returned to perform due to losing the show last year during the pandemic. An on-stage orchestra consisted of community members, teachers and students, led by Christopher Cinquini.  “Mamma Mia was chosen three years ago because we knew our audience would love the music of ABBA. We thought the music would get everyone up on their feet and singing along,” said directors John Hazel and Jeffrey Brunner. “That’s exactly the response we received. People flocked to the show because they are ready to start to feel normal again. This musical makes you feeling happy, and we think it was a great way to bring back musicals to Boyertown.”

After pandemic roller coaster, auto sales across north country surge in March

Réal “Frenchie” Coupal has seen it all during his nearly 40 years of owning auto dealerships. But it’s been like a roller coaster ride to get through the COVID-19 pandemic this past year, he said. Last March, the industry was shut down when the virus hit. Fast forward to this March: new auto sales went through the roof. Charles G. Caprara, who owns F.X. Caprara Car Companies with his brother, William F. Caprara, said March was the best month he’s ever had in his 47 years in the industry. “All our brands were strong,” he said. The Caprara family currently operates F.X. Caprara Honda of Watertown, F.X. Caprara Kia of Watertown, F.X. Caprara Chrysler Dodge Jeep Ram in Alexandria Bay, F.X. Caprara of Ogdensburg and F.X. Caprara Harley-Davidson in Adams Center.

Lewis County DMV customers will soon take a number again | Top Stories

LOWVILLE — By mid-May, no more appointments will be required for Lewis County residents needing the Department of Motor Vehicles’ services. As of May 17, they will be able to just show up, almost like before, but walk-ins still will not be accepted. Some things will go “back to normal” with this change made by County Clerk Jake Moser, but capacity limits will mean it’s a normal with some adaptations. The success of the “take-a-number” model the DMV has been using since its move to its current location has brought the number generator into this new normal. The ticket system will be stationed outside of the door of the DMV beginning at 8:30 a.m. daily so that people can take a number to “get in line” as soon as they arrive.
