The 22-year-old outfielder, pinch-running for Ryan Jeffers and serving as the unearned baserunner to start the extra inning, extricated himself from a rundown and extended the inning, which paid off when the Twins scored twice to end their three-game losing streak with a 3-2 victory in Game 1 of a doubleheader at Guaranteed Rate Field.

ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. Rookie right-hander Spenser Watkins gave up one run in six innings as the Baltimore Orioles tied a season high with their third consecutive win, 6-1 over the Tampa Bay Rays on Monday night.
The 28-year old Watkins, making his third start and fourth career appearance, scattered four hits, walked two and struck out seven. His ERA dropped from 1.74 to 1.65 (three earned runs over 16 1/3 innings).

Nelson Cruz hit a sixth-inning homer and drove in the go-ahead run with an eighth-inning sacrifice fly, leading the Minnesota Twins to a 3-2 victory over the host Chicago White Sox in the first game of a doubleheader on Monday.
Minnesota s Jorge Polanco added an RBI single in the top of the eighth. Chicago s Jose Abreu responded with a run-scoring double in the bottom of the inning, but he was stranded at second base.
Luis Arraez, Ryan Jeffers and Polanco each had two hits for Minnesota, which snapped a three-game losing streak and improved to 3-10 against the White Sox this season.

Minnesota won the opener 3-2 in eight innings, but the White Sox avoided a sweep when Sheets turned on a 3-1 fastball from Twins ace José Berrios and drove it deep to right for his fifth home run. Berrios (7-4) entered the seventh having allowed only two hits solo shots by José Abreu and Yoán Moncada before Brian Goodwin led off with a single and Berrios hit Andrew Vaughn with a pitch.
