Umoja celebrates Alachua County Black art

Art by Daniel Turnage The Alachua County Community Remembrance Project and the Gainesville Fine Arts Association (GFAA) are curating Black art in a presentation called Umoja: A Celebration of Black Artists in Alachua County.   According to the official Kwanza website, Umoja means unity, to strive for and maintain unity in the family, community, nation and race. It s one of the seven principles celebrated during the holiday from Dec. 26 through Jan 1.  The ACCRP is working with the Equal Justice Initiative in Montgomery, Alabama an organization committed to challenging racial and economic injustice.
