Award-winning Savour Seaforth performer on Paul Kelly duet

Hitchcock who will perform at Savour Seaforth has been playing music since she was only two years old, trying and perfecting a multitude of instruments. “I was a classical pianist, and then I also began playing the bassoon,” she said. Hitchcock then worked as a jazz tutor, before moving beginning work as a teacher, composer and artist with Australia’s only Indigenous opera company Short Black Opera. While there, she won several opera awards, despite never being classically vocally trained.

Nollsy will headline the G&S Engineering Wine and Food Festival and Festival Club After Party, with the full program set to be released on Saturday. X Factor winner Isaiah Firebrace will also perform, along with Jess Hitchcock, Heading North and Opera Australia, who is presenting Bizet’s Carmen. Mayor Greg Williamson said he was excited for the array of talent set to feature. “This festival is the celebration of local talent, culture, colour, music and food we all need in 2021,” Cr Williamson said.

Premium Content Subscriber only Mackay Festival of Arts is more inclusive this year with Seaforth brought into the fold to host an afternoon of live music and entertainment. Australian folk music artist Jess Hitchcock will headline Savour Seaforth on July 25 performing heartfelt songs with her ukulele. The award-winning opera singer previously toured with Paul Kelly and Kate Miller-Heidke on the Making Gravy Tour in 2019 and also provided back up vocals for Kate at Eurovision the same year. The Seaforth event from noon to 4pm runs alongside the iconic Sunday markets held under the mango trees. Mackay Mayor Greg Williamson said he was excited to introduce Seaforth to the 2021 festival.
