COVID-19 vaccine rolled out in Ulverston
Patients from Ulverston and surrounding areas are now receiving the COVID-19 vaccine.
Local vaccination services run by GPs started last month and the latest phase of the roll-out in Morecambe Bay is being delivered by the primary care network for Mid Furness.
This means patients from GP practices in Ulverston, Dalton, Askam, Kirkby and Broughton are being vaccinated from today by Mid Furness PCN.
The PfizerBioNTech vaccine, which is being administered to patients over the age of 80, is being delivered over a three-day period at a healthcare facility in Ulverston.
The patients who were identified as priority groups for the life-saving vaccine have been contacted by their GP surgery to book an appointment.
A 96-YEAR-old was among the first patients in Ulverston to be vaccinated with the Covid-19 vaccine. Syracuse, N.Y. Chariel Osorio stood in front of his Near West Side home with a smile on his face and a diploma in his hands.
It was a sunny June day, and Osorio had just graduated from Corcoran High School. The 17-year-old boy, still clad in his shiny maroon graduation cap and gown, posed for a photo proudly showing off his new degree.
Six hours later, Osorio was shot in the head.

Now based in Scotland, the former UDA brigadier for West Belfast spoke for the first this week about his respect for John Hume, who passed away last August and has been hailed as perhaps the greatest ever Irish person.
