Of all the wonderful eras of television, the 1980s might have been the golden age of the situation comedy, or at least a certain kind of sitcom. The TV landscape was still by and large dominated by three broadcast networks, who presented programming that appealed to as broad an audience as possible. Most comedies of the era could be safely consumed by adults and little kids alike, because they were generally clean, understandable, and offered jokes that were easily digested. They also all kind of looked the same, shot on a set with multiple cameras and a laugh track-sweetened studio audience telling viewers at home when to laugh.

Although pandemic quarantines forced the vast majority of Americans to shelter in place for most of 2020, some billionaires moved to greener pastures. Or at least ones with lower taxes.
Take Elon Musk, for instance, who relocated in December 2020 to Austin, Texasâone of nine U.S. states that doesnât collect income tax, igniting a firestorm over the fact that the three richest Americans now live in income tax-free states. (The other two, Jeff Bezos and Bill Gates, are residents of Washington state.)

The disaster movie label usually brings to mind epic examples from the 70s films in which a catastrophe in a boat or an airplane or a building wreaks havoc on a group of strangers, disrupting their otherwise ordinary lives. Whether it s a hedge-fund billionaire, tech giant, industrial titan, or someone simply born into the right family, the wealthiest people in every state each have their own stories. In today s political climate, the super-rich have plenty of influence over our political process, from lobbying members of the government and contributing to presidential bids to running ad campaigns in favor of specific causes.
To figure out who s on top of each state s rich list, Forbes tracks groups of billionaires (or centimillionaires in states with no billionaires) and updates their findings annually. Stacker analyzed this data to compile a list of the uber-wealthy and then broke down how each person earned their fortune.
