Over the next couple of weeks Scituate Police will be conducting compliance checks at local bars, restaurants, general stores and package stores to make sure these businesses are adhering to Massachusetts laws which require identification checks for anyone purchasing alcohol who might not appear to be 21 years of age.
As part of the compliance checks, underage persons will be sent into the establishments with the intent to purchase alcohol.
“I’m expecting that Scituate establishments will be following the law and the guidelines of the state,” said Sgt. Jerry O’Brien, who will be involved with the compliance checks.
