Smith managed the women s and men s programs for eight years. The university said assistant coach Jeremy Sudbury will be stepping in as interim director. “I’ve decided that we needed new leadership in the programs going forward,” said Jamie Pollard, director of athletics. “We’ve had some significant success under Martin’s direction, but my personal observations over the last year convinced me that a change needs to be made.”During Smith s time at Iowa State, the teams won four Big 12 championship titles. Four athletes under his direction went on to win six NCAA championships.
