Gainesville City Schools employees to be vaccinated nex

Gainesville City Schools employees will be able to get the COVID-19 vaccine next week at a clinic hosted by the school and District 2 Public Health. That announcement came Monday evening during the school board s work session. The one shot Johnson & Johnson vaccine will be available. Pre-K through Grade 12 teachers and staff, including substitutes and student teachers, will be able to get the shot the morning of Friday, March 12. While the clinic is dependent on the vaccine supply being available, Superintendent Jeremy Williams said they chose that day to allow for additional days in case of reaction. That Friday will be a teacher work day.

Reporter MARSHALL The Marshall area community needs a strong workforce, and building it is going to take teamwork, said presenters at Monday’s Marshall School Board meeting. Representatives from the Marshall school district, the Marshall Area Chamber of Commerce and the Southwest Minnesota Private Industry Council told school board members about the progress they’ve made on expanding career and technical education (CTE) in Marshall Public Schools. “It’s taken us some time, but we’re really getting places,” said Beth Ritter, director of teaching and learning at MPS. One path the group is pursuing is to have a Work & Learn Coordinator help connect schools and students with learning opportunities from area employers.
