HLIB sees KLCI at 1,660 points on 2021 corporate earnings rebound

KUALA LUMPUR (June 30): Hong Leong Investment Bank Bhd (HLIB) said today its end-2021 FBM KLCI target is penned at 1,660 points as the research firm projects the 30-stock index s core earnings to rebound 23.9% for the year as Malaysia’s economy recovers in tandem with Covid-19 vaccination progress and a declining number of pandemic cases in the country.  In a note today, HLIB analysts Jeremy Goh, Felicia Ling and Goh Khing-Mae said the research house expects some market recovery between July and August, followed by a more significant recovery between September and October. We advocate a more balanced portfolio proposition with a lean towards recovery plays,” they said.

IJM Corp special dividend seen from planned plantation arm sale proceeds

IJM Corp Bhd is expected to pay shareholders a special dividend from proceeds of the group's planned sale of its 56.2% stake in IJM Plantations Bhd to Kuala Lumpur Kepong Bhd for RM1.53 billion or RM3.10 per share, according to analysts including those from Maybank Investment Bank Bhd and Hong Leong Investment Bank Bhd.

HLIB keeps buy call on Bursa Malaysia, raises target price to RM11 49

KUALA LUMPUR (April 15): Hong Leong Investment Bank (HLIB) Research has maintained its “buy” call on Bursa Malaysia Bhd at RM8.70 with a higher target price of RM11.49 (from RM11.46) based on 29 times price-to-earnings ratio (P/E) tagged to financial year 2021 (FY21) earnings per share (EPS). In a research note today, HLIB highlighted the market’s volatile recovery path, structurally higher retail participation and potential return of foreigners as auguring well for the average daily volumes (ADV) on the local bourse. “Judging from 1Q21 ADV/average daily contract (ADC) of RM5.08 billion/79,900, quarterly core earnings could come in at RM108 million, implying a decline of 8% quarter-on-quarter (q-o-q) (fewer trading days) but an increase of 67% year-on-year (y-o-y).
