Wisconsin s vaccination effort seems to be accelerating with each passing day and Tuesday was no different.  Our vaccinators across the state are doing great work to get folks vaccinated and get this done,  Gov. Tony Evers said, with the goal being to get us back to our Wisconsin way of life. We re all for that.

Milwaukee s Polish Fest is the latest lakefront festival to be canceled for 2021 Chris Foran, Milwaukee Journal Sentinel Add Polish Fest to the list of Milwaukee lakefront festivals canceled for 2021.  The board of directors of Polish Heritage Alliance Inc. announced Tuesday that the festival, which had been scheduled to be held at Maier Festival Park June 11-13, has been canceled as part of the community-wide effort to stem the COVID-19 pandemic.  Planning was on track for this year; however, at present, COVID-19 is currently a part of everyone’s lives, we believe the best decision is to not hold Polish Fest this year so early in the summer to allow for more vaccinations to the broader community, Steve Chybowski, president of Polish Heritage Alliance, said in a statement. “We believe this is the best decision for our attendees, volunteers, entertainers, and vendors  our entire extended Polish Fest community.”

Racine County s Italian Fest is set to return this summer, committee keeping an eye on COVID

MOUNT PLEASANT — Amidst recent ethnic festival cancellations in Milwaukee, such as Festa Italiana and German Fest, one local ethnic festival is still slated to go on. Italian Fest’s 42nd annual event — the festival was canceled last year — is scheduled for July 23-25. New this year, it’s to be hosted at the Roma Lodge, 7130 Spring St. The festival’s planning committee is still in the early stages for the details, but it had decided in December that the show will go on this summer. The dates and tentative times are Friday, July 23, from 4-11 p.m., Saturday, July 24 from 2-11 p.m. and the Sunday, July 25 Mass will be at 10:30 a.m. with the raffle following at noon. Dates are set, but the times may change, said Patrick Diem, a member of Roma Lodge and chair of the festival committee.
