The Mitchell Board of Education on Monday approved the 2021-22 K-14 budget for the Mitchell School District, paving the way to further enhance the quality of education in the district, according to school leaders.
Joe Graves, superintendent for the Mitchell School District, said the budgeting process is long but vital to bringing the best possible educational experience to students and faculty at the school. Andy Mitchell, a fourth grader at Gertie Belle Rogers Elementary, has been riding his bike to school as many times as possible in the last school year, having missed only a handful of days due to family trips and illness. It was a tradition he began when he rode to school with his parents and brother for National Bike To School Day, which is being observed May 5 this year. The Mitchell Board of Education on Monday night approved the annual compensation of several administrators with the Mitchell School District, following an executive session at the end of the meeting.
In addition to the 14 administrator salaries, the board also approved a 3% raise for Joe Graves, superintendent for the Mitchell School District, bringing his salary to $154,403 for the 2021-22 school year. Administrator salaries are considered, adjusted if deemed necessary and approved yearly by the board.
