A POSTAL worker made one of the most special deliveries of her career last weekend when she came across a local farmer struggling with the birth of a lamb.

Alice Barnard, who started working for Jersey Post last year, had nearly finished her round on Saturday when she arrived at Field Farm in St Lawrence, where she discovered farm owner Jenni Liddiard having difficulty delivering a lamb by herself.
Luckily, Ms Barnard already had experience working on a farm and was more than happy to help.
‘It was a nice sunny Saturday,’ she said. ‘I wasn’t in a rush as I had loads of time – how could I say no?’

A FATHER of two has been jailed after admitting being involved in a plot to smuggle a commercial quantity of drugs into Jersey.
Ryan Anderson was caught after Customs officers watched him collect a dummy package they had posted to an address after earlier intercepting a parcel containing the class A drug ecstasy.
An officer said that when they stopped the 21-year-old and found the parcel hidden in the waistband of his underwear, the suspect dropped his head and the colour drained from his face .
Anderson, who has 21 previous convictions, later pleaded guilty to being concerned in the importation of class A drugs and was this week jailed for three years by the Superior Number of the Royal Court.

The cost of sending letters overseas from Jersey increases today (1 April).
Jersey Post s prices rill rise as follows:
70p to 74p for letters to the UK, the Isle of Man and the other Channel Islands
84p to £1 for European letters
£1.05 to £1.30 for letters to the rest of the world
There will be no extra charges for sending items locally with stamps remaining at 54p.
We remain fully committed to keeping costs low where possible and that is why we are maintaining 2020 rates for local-to-local items. The Jersey Post price for a first-class local letter is not increasing. This compares to a Royal Mail first class stamp which increased at the start of the year by 9p to 85p.
