NJCU to Honor Classes of 2020 and 2021 in Double Commencement Ceremony on June 15

JERSEY CITY, N.J. | New Jersey City University (NJCU) will award more than 1,800 doctoral, graduate, and undergraduate degrees in a double ceremony during its 2021 Commencement exercises on Tuesday, June 15 at the Prudential Center in Newark, N.J. NJCU will honor graduates from the classes of 2020 and 2021 during a fully in-person ceremony. The first ceremony will begin at 9 a.m. and will include graduates from the School of Business and the College of Professional Studies. The second ceremony will begin at 1 p.m. and include graduates from the William J. Maxwell College of Arts and Sciences and Deborah Cannon Partridge Wolfe College of Education.

Nai-Ni Chen Dance Company Returns To Live In-Person Shows In June

(FORT LEE, NJ) After going virtual since March 2021 and creating several productions online, the Nai-Ni Chen Dance Company has announced its return to performing for live audiences in June 2021 in both indoor and outdoor presentations.  The Company’s first live audience-facing performance will be presented by the Jamaica Dance Festival outdoors at Rufus King Park. 150-29 Jamaica Avenue, Jamaica, New York on Saturday, June 12 at 7:30pm. The Jamaica Dance Festival is a program of A Better Jamaica, an advocacy organization for the community.

Brown Corporation elects three new fellows, seven trustees Brown’s governing body elected each new member based on their commitment to the University and its mission of education and research. [Brown University] During its annual spring meeting in May, the Corporation of Brown University elected three new members to its Board of Fellows and seven new members to its Board of Trustees. Each was invited to serve on Brown’s governing body based on their commitment to the University and its mission of education and research. John C. Atwater, a 1983 Brown graduate and a trustee since 2015, Pamela R. Reeves, a 1987 Brown graduate and a trustee since 2016, and Nancy G. Zimmerman, a 1985 Brown graduate and trustee since 2019 and from 2010 to 2016, were elected to the Board of Fellows. Members of the Board of Fellows customarily serve 11-year terms.

Share Jack Cassidy, professor emeritus at both Texas A&M University-Corpus Christi and Millersville University in Pennsylvania, died on Saturday, May 22, after a long-fought battle with cancer. He was 80. Cassidy was a past president of the International Reading Association (IRA, now the International Literacy Association, ILA) from 1982 to 1983. As messages poured in following the news of his death, many focused on his stature in intellect, heart, and even physical presence.
