A Friend and a Mentor: ILA Remembers Past President Jack Cassidy

Share Jack Cassidy, professor emeritus at both Texas A&M University-Corpus Christi and Millersville University in Pennsylvania, died on Saturday, May 22, after a long-fought battle with cancer. He was 80. Cassidy was a past president of the International Reading Association (IRA, now the International Literacy Association, ILA) from 1982 to 1983. As messages poured in following the news of his death, many focused on his stature in intellect, heart, and even physical presence.
