A SWINDON charity which supports people who have suffered strokes sent its clients on a fun day out thanks to a generous donation. The McCarthy Stone Foundation gave Swindon Stroke Support £500 which helped fund a group tip to the Cotswold Wildlife Park. The money covered entrance fees, lunch, wheelchair-accessible transport and mobility scooter hire. Established in 1981, Swindon Stroke Support is a registered charity run entirely by volunteers which offers a weekly social support group for stroke survivors and their carers which includes a varied programme of social activities, day trips and holidays. Treasurer Gerald Stephenson said: “The pandemic has meant that we haven’t been able to run our groups for nearly 15 months, so we’re looking forward to getting everyone back together again.
